So What The Heck Is Up With Claire?

Here's the big problem I have with Claire being killed in the rocket attack. What makes her an instant zombie when we've seen tons of other people on the Island die without the same effect? Boone died and it took a while to get him in the ground. Ana Lucia especially took a long time to bury. She laid there in the Swan Hatch while Libby bled out. But if Claire isn't dead, what is the deal? Any ideas? (And would a zombie need a band aid?)

The whole Claire thing bothers me because there are so many different and yet pretty convincing points to both sides of the is she alive or is she dead debate. I voted for dead because I can’t help but think a mother wouldn’t leave her kid in the jungle willingly especially when the child needs breast milk to survive. Also, when Kate finds Claire in Aaron’s room, she kind of gave off a dead vibe. It’s almost like Claire doesn’t want Aaron to come back because of all of the horrible things that have happened since the O-6 left.

The con to Claire is dead is that the zombie season came a little bit early or everyone is interacting with a ghost who in turn is holding a very alive baby. A lot of the people she was interacting with are deemed special like Miles and Locke, but what about Sawyer? Does he have some abilities that we don’t know yet or is it just the island letting this happen like with Yemi and Eko?

I have a bad feeling we are going to have to wait a bit to get the answers to this and by wait I mean end of season 5 or even season 6.

Feeding Aaron really bothers me too. They've completely ignored that issue, and in the grand scheme of things it's okay, but they made this big point of it with Claire, Sawyer and Miles in the jungle and then they ignore it. Aaron surviving the helicopter crash is nothing compared to the fact that the kid isn't crying for food constantly.

I'm not sure what kind of vibe we're supposed to take from flashforward Kate's vision of Claire because it was a dream with a vision in it. What rules apply to a vision in a dream? :-)

And again, if she's dead, and if she died in the attack I guess we have to conclude that Aaron, Sawyer, Hurley, Miles, Ben and Locke are all special since they all interacted with her. And that's just a little too much for me. Like I said, why Claire and none of the other people?

Both sides are convincing, however, I've felt she might be dead ever since her appearance in Kate's dream. Dead people in dreams seem to be a theme - i.e. Libby in Michael's, Theresa (Boone's nanny) in Locke's etc..

That's funny about the bandaid though Memphish - too many red herrings from TPTB.

Great thoughts you guys, the Claire thing really just makes my head spin. But I'd guess that she's alive if someone put the proverbial gun to my head.

I voted for dead because of the main point that alive Claire would never leave her BAYBEE stuck in a tree and calmly walk away. And not even ask Locke about him in the cabin. She's either dead or drugged.
